Leafy species

“Leafy species” is one of the classifications of bonsai, referring mainly to deciduous trees. You can enjoy the budding in spring, the deep green in summer, the autumn leaves, and the appearance after the leaves have fallen.

The leafy species include the following types:

Zelkova (Keyaki)

Maple (Momiji)

Maple (Kaede)

Judas-tree species (Shide)

Oak (Nara)

Beech (Buna)

These tree species sprout well and are strong and easy to grow, but if you neglect to pinch buds and prune, the branches will stretch and lose their shape quickly. Also, tasks such as managing sunlight and leaf pruning are important for making the autumn leaves beautiful.
